Melbourne String Ensemble
Melbourne String Ensemble (MSE), directed by Fintan Murphy, offers students an unparalleled opportunity to perform high quality repertoire with some of Melbourne’s most talented young string musicians. Students develop ensemble, chamber and advanced musicianship skills and regularly take part in masterclasses with some of Australia’s most accomplished professional musicians.
MSE Intermezzo
MSE Intermezzo, directed by Rohan Mack, began in 2014. Students in Intermezzo develop ensemble skills and the technical mastery necessary for advanced ensemble participation. To develop their musical teamwork, the MSE Intermezzo performs unconducted.
MSE Prelude
MSE Prelude, directed by Naomi Durston, provides a warm and nurturing environment for our youngest members and focuses on developing their ensemble and performance skills. Students develop a love of orchestral playing as they rehearse and perform an eclectic range of repertoire.
Melbourne String Ensemble acknowledges the Wurundjeri, Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, upon whose Country we are based and recognises their continuing connections to community, culture and country. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
