Concerto concert

Every year, members of MSE have the opportunity to perform a concerto with the orchestra. In a baroque or classical work this also allows the soloist to lead and direct the orchestra.

To become a rounded musician students need to develop a deep understanding of a musical work as a whole. Performing music from all perspectives, playing a solo line, accompanying, and leading all are important. The Concerto Concert gives our senior students the opportunity to perform 1 or 2 movements of a concerto with the backing of the string orchestra.

2023 Concerto Concert

MSE presents an exciting program of concerto repertoire featuring soloists Hannah Tyrell (violin) and Samantha Chen (cello),  alongside selections from Bach's The Art of Fugue and performances by the Intermediate and Junior Melbourne String Ensembles.
