Playing in the Melbourne String Ensemble under the direction of Fintan Murphy was my first serious orchestral experience, and awakened an interest in orchestral and chamber repertoire and a respect for good ensemble playing which is still very much with me today! I completed a Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne with Fintan Murphy and Elisabeth Sellars, before moving to Germany in 2009 to study with Gorjan Kosuta in Cologne, who I met on tour with MSE in 2005, and then with Yamei Yu at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, where I completed my Master's. I have been living and working in Germany now for almost 10 years, and am a member of the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne. Studying in Germany was eye-opening as I had the chance to meet musicians with very diverse playing styles and from diverse cultural backgrounds. Working here is very exciting as there is so much going on- so many good orchestras, conductors and soloists coming through. Alongside my job in the Gürzenich Orchestra I play chamber music with colleagues, and do guest work in many other orchestras- here in Cologne, and also further afield.
