Junior Melbourne String Ensemble

JMSE is a junior group comprised of players approx 8-12 years of age.

JMSE provides a warm and nurturing environment for our youngest members and focuses on developing their ensemble and performance skills. Students develop a love of orchestral playing as they rehearse and perform an eclectic range of repertoire.

The JMSE also incorporates a separate group; the Junior Chamber Melbourne String Ensemble (JMSCE). This is composed of some of the more advanced junior players who are ready to rehearse and perform without a conductor. It assists students in developing enhanced listening, communication and musicianship skills.

The expected entry standard is as follows;

• Violin: AMEB grade 3 plus
• Celllo/viola: AMEB grade 2 plus
